New Comics This Week March 8: All-New Wolverine & More!
Grass Kings #1
Matt Kindt is both a bestselling writer and an accomplished artist. I often find myself comparing his work that of Jeff Lemire. Grass Kings is a book that seems to fit that mould as well, focusing on human drama with a twist of the seemingly surreal. With Grass Kings at Boom! Studios, Kindt is turning the art duties over to Tyler Jenkins former of the successful Peter Panzerfaust book at Image Comics. Together they will tell the story of three brothers who preside over a trailer park, which acts as their kingdom. Amidst personal struggle, the eldest brother Robert aids a woman named Maria in search of safety. This beautiful looking book will sure pack some of the signature personal exploration of Kindt’s previous work.
All-New Wolverine 18
This isn’t a great jumping-on point for new readers. In fact, issue 18 is the conclusion of an arc. However, with the screen debut of Laura, otherwise known as X-23, fans of Logan may be interested in getting a taste of what this All-New Wolverine is all about. Take a look at this issue to get an idea before exploring the backlog of other X-Men comics featuring this female Wolverine successor ahead of the original’s return later this spring.
A cult classic character. A cult favourite author. A brand-new miniseries. R.L. Stine has taken up the reigns for his own fresh take on Marvel’s Man-Thing with renowned artist Daniel Warren Johnson. It is a continuation of previous stories, bringing the character forward for a new life in Hollywood. These two creators will bring the horror, and suffice it to say there’s nothing more exciting than some new R.L. Stine. This book looks to be a must-buy for fans of Man-Thing and R.L. Stine alike.
